Richard's love of sacred music was born whilst a chorister at Westminster Cathedral. Surrounded by so much wonderful music from 16th century Spain, France, Italy and England, it is not surprising that when the opportunity arose to establish Tredici he would return to these roots for many repertoire ideas.

Armed with a BMus from University College Cardiff he secured a job in the marketing department of the Philharmonia Orchestra. After several years there he was head-hunted by the then co-owner of Rhinegold Publishing and appointed Marketing Manager. This successful relationship lasted for around 20 years. Richard is currently Marketing & Licensing Manager at International Theatre & Music; Operations Manager for the Orpheus Sinfonia Foundation; and Administrator of the Keyboard Charitable Trust.

Richard sang tenor in The Philharmonia Chorus for 16 years. An elected position to the Council of Management, held for several years, led to him serving as Chairman of the chorus from 1999-2002.

Richard was appointed Organist and Musical Director of St Matthew's Church Choir, Ealing Common in September 2005 after 15 years as a singer in the church. This affords him regular opportunities to unearth and conduct forgotten gems with the loyal singers there and also provides an incentive to improve his self-taught organ-playing.

In 2009 he attained a Diploma in Choral conducting from the Association of British Choral Directors.

In January 2016 Richard was also appointed Musical Director of Sine Nomine Singers in Hillingdon.
